What's Inside THE REF?

Inside THE REF is more than just a classroom; it is an interactive learning environment. From the front to the back of its 40-foot trailer, THE REF provides up-to-date motorcycle safety education training. In the back are three training motorcycles used in a 90-minute Introductory Motorcycle Experience (IME) developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) to provide a taste of what motorcycling is about and the importance of attending a basic rider education class. After experiencing the IME, you can make an informed decision based on whether or not motorcycle riding is for you.

THE REF also has training aids in the form of touch screen monitors that allow attendees to test their knowledge of motorcycle safety. Various videos and other training aids can be viewed on any one of three flat-panel LED monitors.

In the front of THE REF, there is another classroom with two SMARTrainers (Safe Motorcyclist Awareness and Recognition Trainers) that are traffic simulators designed to give riders a real-world experience riding in traffic and on public roads.
